London - Sparkling wine may be reaching a plateau

by MiBD wine analytics November 28, 2019

Sparkling wine in the UK has had to deal with a number of challenges in the past year.

Sparkling wine may be reaching a plateau after large increases in recent years.

However, in the same timeframe the retail price of a bottle of sparkling is up 40%, conforming with more general trends of premiumisation across the wine sector. Consumers are continuing a trend of focusing on the quality of what they are drinking over the quantity available to them, especially among drinkers under the age of 35.*
